About this Atlas

Every site was visited and assessed in the field by researchers from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham's World Centre of Excellence on Landslide Risk Reduction (WCE‑LRR), recognised under the UNESCO Chair on Experiential Learning for Sustainable Innovation and Development. Each entry follows a consistent data structure: a unique code (Ls1–Ls93), GPS coordinates reconciled from field records, landslide classification, and the triggering event date where known.

Sites span debris slides, debris flows, rockfalls, creep movements and catastrophic multi-wave landslides — including some of the most consequential disasters in recent Indian history. Several locations host permanent Deformation and Early-warning Platforms (DEPs) with geophones and rainfall gauges for long-term slope monitoring.
